Racine Instinctive Bowmen

HISTORY:
In January of 1952, eleven men and women who shared the love for and interest in instinctive archery, met and formed Racine Instinctive Bowmen. As bow sights and shooting aids became increasingly popular, they saw a need to organize and to actively promote and preserve their instinctive style of shooting. As RIB changed and grew, the Club held on to its “instinctive only” membership requirement. That requirement ended in 2014. Today, Racine Instinctive Bowmen membership is open to all styles of shooters, including traditional, instinctive and sights-and-release. All styles of shooters enjoy the same benefits and responsibilities of membership.

TODAY:
RIB has come a long way from the time when its buildings consisted of one donated cabin and two outhouses. The 65+ year adventure in archery has seen membership grow from its original eleven members to a present day total of more than 170 members, and watched the 23-acre parcel grow to 188 acres. Fortunately, one of the things our members have excelled at is building, and build we did. RIB’s indoor facilities include a 5,200 sq. foot clubhouse containing a reception area, newly renovated kitchen, complete bar, and a 16-station, 20-yard indoor shooting range.

RIB’s outdoor facilities include a 3,200 sq. foot “tree-stand height”, covered shooting platform with 14 shooting stations, and a steel frame/cement floored pavilion. Two pole barns house targets and outdoor maintenance equipment. RIB’s outdoor shooting ranges have also grown and changed. RIB maintains four outdoor wooded courses with a total of 56 shooting stations. The elevated, covered shooting platform is also used as a 14-station range. The grounds include a free, primitive, camping area (available during most shoots) and a children’s playground.
